Social networks are becoming extremely  popular nowadays. Thousands of people enjoy using them   and spend hours  in front of computers while others find them  dangerous and addicting . (33)

 It seems to me that social media has got a lot of  advantages. To begin with, social networking is a super way of entertaining. You can watch any films, listen to music you like, read books. What is also important there exist social nets connecting people according to a general interest, for example, computer games players are combined into a social net.  Secondly, Social networking sites help students do better at school. For instance,  VKontakte can be used for asking questions, and discussing what has been learnt in class. (89)

However, there are people who claim that social networks are a great trouble. They base their opinion on the following.  Social networking sites can lead to stress and offline relationship problems. People often pay less attention to those who are near them – their parents, siblings and so on. One of the worst consequences of the social networks may be the lack of normal healthy social interactions.(66)

Nevertheless, I cannot agree with the above point of view. Social networking sites allow people to improve their relationships and make new friends. It is especially important for people who are socially isolated or shy connect with other people. (39)

All in all, although social networks can sometimes be addicting and time-consuming, it is worth it. With the help of social networks people can gain a lot of experience of making new friends, studying and socializing,    (37) (270)
