Discussions about  GM foods are becoming more and more frequent nowadays. Some people think that GM foods can help humans while others consider it as harmful. (31)

I think there are a lot of advantages of GM foods. Firstly, a proposed benefit of such foods is that they can produce higher crop yields, which could help by feeding more people in developing countries.  Secondly, GM foods can improve food quality. They are engineered  to have a huge content of a specific nutrient that is lacking in the diet of a local population group. Finally, through the modification of foods, the flavors can be enhanced. Food can become more palatable. (82)

However, there are some people who claim that GM foods can have a negative effect on human health. Firstly, a constant risk of GM foods is the ability of such foods to trigger an allergy in humans. Some of the genes might be taken from a food that causes allergies in some people. Moreover, they say that some GM foods  are modified using bacteria and viruses,  which may lead to the emergence of new diseases. (75)

Nevertheless, I cannot agree with the above point of view. I am sure that GM foods can help people be healthier. They reduce the need for pesticides and herbicides, which is good for our nature and as a result for human beings. (42)

All in all, although using  GM foods may present several potential drawbacks, it is worth it. GM foods can improve the general beauty and health of the environment and the quality of food, which indirectly benefit our personal well-being .(33)
